It's hard to believe we have less than a day left in 2018! And you know what that means. Time to reflect on the year past and start making new goals for the year ahead.
I know a lot of people, myself included, who want to make traveing part of their new years resolutions. Whether it be to travel to five different places or just one. So I thought I would kick off the new year with the travel trends that we have seen on the rise, and what to expect in 2019.
"Jet - Setting":
Or, "location vacation", is on the rise thanks to popular TV shows such as Game of Thrones (GoT). The desire to visit prominent film locations will most likely continue to increase in 2019.
Astro-tourism offers a glimpse through history and gives people a fascinating sense of perspective about our place in the universe. As cities expand and the earth grows more and more populous, opportunities for humanity to see clear skies continue to decrease. Travelers are now seeking out the worlds last-remaining dark places where they can go and get a clear, unpolluted view of the vast universe above.
Iceland has been getting a lot of attention lately. From destination weddings and honeymoons, to family vacations, to seeing the Northern Lights, Iceland is making its way up on bucket lists worldwide. And for good reason! Defined by it's dramatic landscape, volcanoes, geysers, hot springs and lava fields, Iceland is majestic, breathtaking, and unlike any place in the world.
For those seeking adventure, it has never been easier to get your thrill on while also crossing a destination off your bucket list. More and more tour operators are latching on to the idea of active travel. People don't just want to see anymore, they want to DO!
'Getting Away From it All':
Busy, tired, stressed... Things we can all relate to. More and more people are wanting to escape the pressures of everyday life and go "off the grid" to find uncharted expeditions to unknown territories. These "get-aways" will continue to increase in 2019.
Traveling isn't just for the retired anymore! And it hasn't been for some time. More and more millennials are traveling each year. And with 77% of the U.S. population on social media, more vacations are focused on seeking out the best views to share online.
